Why crafting's been off the agenda and Workdesk Wednesday

Since last Saturday crafting has had to be completely off my agenda, hence the lack of posts that I have done this week.  After about 10 years of deliberating, I finally make the decision to have laser eye surgery, which was carried out on Saturday afternoon.  Thankfully it has been a success and I am now glasses free for the first time in 21 years!  I have had lots of bruising and bleeding on my eyes and hopefully my sight will improve even more over the next few weeks as the healing takes place.

I was very scared when I had it done and once the anaesthetic wore off the next 12 hours were a lot worse than I was expecting - but that is probably because of the amount of bruising I had on my eyes.  The clinic where I had them done have been brilliant and I have been back several times already for them to keep a check on me.

So, crafting has been akward as I adjust to being able to see beyond my nose!  Teddy bear making is completely off limits because of the fibres of mohair and kapok that tend to float in the air and blogging has had to be kept to a minimum.  On a positive note, housework is also off limits because I cannot risk getting any dust into my eyes - I am getting good at delegating tasks!

As I have no projects to show you, I will share a few pics for Workdesk Wednesday with you (although it is more work cupboard as my workdesk is clear!).

So in the corner of my bedroom you will find a wardrobe door that holds a crafty secret......

This wardrobe has had lots of shelves added to keep my stash - floor to ceiling crafty bits 'n' bobs!  I know that it looks like organised chaos but if I tidied it, I would never find anything!

How many more of you use re-cycled containers for holding your embellishments.  Did I really eat that many Chinese takeaways???  I'm running out of containers, must be time for another takeaway soon!!!

So, sorry I haven't been around.  I will try and get round to visit some of you soon and get some cards made in the next few days.  Thanks for stopping by,

Amanda

I hope your eyes are doing well. I had lasik a couple of years ago and am so happy I did. My vision was 20/20 the next morning and continued to improve.
Nice organized wardrobe btw!

Hi Amanda I'm glad it all went well I don't think I could ever go down that route it took me three visits to the optician before I could even put a contact lens in, the thought of what you have gone through is just too much so I'm well impressed you managed it. On to that wonderful cupboard full of crafty gorgeousness ... wow and very tidy!

Congrats on the laser surgery! I am glad things are going so well. I had it done about 4 years ago and LOVE the results. It is so nice to be glasses free. I still have to wear sunglasses outside because my eyes are sensitive to bright light but I would wear them any how.

Take care!

Good evening Amanda, Glad your eyes are ok. Love your crafty wardrobe. I have one like that in my spare room. I think the other half would have a fit. By the way if you are near a pound land they have those containers 10 for £1.00 how cool is that less expensive than chinese, not that I don't like chinese - which I love !
Take care Lots of Hugs JO.xxx

I am sorry you had some small irritations with your eye surgery. I had laser surgery done on both eyes about 1yr. ago & no problems. BUUUT, isn't it exciting to be able to see things you never knew you were suppose to be able to see. I was positively amazed at all I had been missing, my family thought I was nuts.

Hey AJ, how brave of you! So glad you're already pleased with the results - wishing you continuing improvement. I love the wardrobe secret - and I wouldn't call it organised chaos - just organised, and very inviting too!

Wow, that surgery sounds a lot worse than I envisioned (pun not intended) it. I'm sure once the swelling has gone, you will be glad you got it.

Sorry I'm late visiting, but my computer contracted a virus on Wednesday. It's still not fixed, but I had to make sure I wasn't infecting anyone before I resumed my visits. Glad I made it, though. I'm truly impressed by all those take out containers. When we in the US get Chinese food, it comes in a waxed container with a metal handle. Nothing that can be reused. Happy belated WOYWW.
